The world produces more than quintillion bytes of data every day. There are over millions of reports and articles online covering 360 degrees of different areas in business and life. There are thousands of books that are published every day. The high volume of data and reports provides us with a great chance to access new ideas. There are many new ideas from data and reports that are released every day. The challenge is how to be receptive to discovering it.
We can read and spot new ideas if our mindsets are programmed to be receptive to new ideas. Also, we can read and discover nothing rather than information if our mindsets are not programmed to be receptive to new ideas.
It all depends on how we have programmed our minds on reading.
What is Radical Reading?
Radical reading is strategic reading beyond the fundamental facts of something. You read not only, but you focus on appreciating the meaning and think beyond the writings. The focus of radical reading is to understand what is behind the data and reports. It is the art of reading while fixing your mind to understand what is behind to discover new ideas.
Extraordinary people always love to read books, data, and reports. They don’t only read. They discern new ideas. They read to discover what is behind writings and go for it.
In 2020, when I introduced Data insights services to produce new ideas under RDN, we adopted a radical reading approach. The end outcome for every reading was to discover what is behind every research report to catch new ideas. By using this approach, we succeeded produce one new idea every day. When we read reports, books, data, or articles, we focus our minds beyond the challenges and problems.

Step 2: Read Strategically
Time is a strategic resource for every innovator or inventor. You do not have to read the whole report or article. Focus on the strategic areas. Strategic areas are executive summary, challenges, problems, recommendations, and data insights. Read and discern what is behind the problems, challenges, and recommendations to catch new ideas. In the case of articles, you can use the same strategy or read it all.
Step 3: Write New Ideas & Develop It
Use a notebook, mobile phone, or tablet to write new ideas. Read and write new ideas. Chant, research and connect dots to explore more. Develop new ideas into products or services.
